Foundation Gives to CHS English Department The board of directors of the Livingston County Community Foundation recently presented the English Department of Chillicothe High School with a grant of $2,286.42. The grant was requested by Jill Watkins, an English instructor at CHS. The grant was titled “Innovative Ways to TEACH (Technology Enhancing Achievement and Chillicothe High). A grant from the Jenkins Foundation in July 2005 enabled the high school to begin utilizing instruction technology in the classrooms by providing a set of wireless laptop computers, a recharging cart, a networked printer, wireless access point and licensed software. The Jenkins grant has helped the high school improve its technology, but the multimedia tools utilized in the classroom on a daily basis are still inadequate, officials said. The grant funding will enable the school to add a project and SMART Board to adequately update the technology in another English class. With this addition the classroom will be technology efficient. Funds for the grant are provided by the Noble Dean Smith Trust administrated by the foundation. Half of the grant is directed to Chillicothe High School and the remainder to Hedrick Medical Foundation. |
