Seven Candidates on Ballot for School Board
Published C-T 01 23 08

The filing period for candidates to ensure that their name is placed on the April 8, 2008 school board election ballot closed yesterday (Tuesday) at 5 p.m. and the field of school board hopefuls is established at seven.

Those familiar with last year's school board election and those familiar with the R-2 board will find themselves looking at mostly familiar names in the voting booths as this year's installment will feature two incumbents up for election - Eric Reeter of 11895 Liv 2355; and David Williams of 17672 Liv 306 - and four candidates who ran for seats last year and came up short - Michael Leamer, of 12265 Liv 422; Robbie Skipper, of 8492 Liv 508; Dean Souders of 1124 Broadway Street; and John Pelly of 217 Jackson Street. The lone newcomer to this year's race is Larry Hamrick of 9001 Liv 516.

The filing period opened on Dec. 18, 2007 and within just 12 minutes, a contested race emerged between Leamer, Skipper, Reeter and Williams, who filed in that order. Then, on Jan. 8, 2008, Souders filed. Hamrick followed suit two days later. The last candidate to file was John C. Pelly, who declared his candidacy on Jan. 16.
