CHS Symphonic Band, Music Students Earn Honors at District Music Festival

C-T Photo/Butch Shaffer The Chillicothe Symphonic Band, several solos and small ensembles recently earned I ratings at District Music Festival. The MSHSAA Festival was held at Northwest Mo. State University and St. Joseph Central High School. Those solos and small ensembles receiving a I rating will perform at the State Music Festival on the campus of The University of Missouri, Friday, May 1. This was the 25th consecutive year the symphonic band has earned a division I rating. Those earning an I rating at the district contest were: The CHS Symphonic Band, Cari Stockard, oboe solo; Caitlin Mitchell, alto sax solo; Caleb Coleman, percussion solo; Bradee Gabel, xylophone solo; Beth Skipper, bass clarinet solo; Jamie Westphal, french horn solo; Donald Heaton, tenor sax solo; Chelsea Wade, flute solo; Marshall Suchsland, french horn solo; Shian McBee, flute solo; Lauren Crawford, flute solo; Jon Martin, tuba solo; Abbey Pitchford, vocal solo; Clarinet Trio (Samantha Figg, Beth Skipper, Blake Reed); Saxophone Sextet (Ian Gramenz, Elizabeth Sivill, Trent Worman, Donald Heaton, Caitlin Mitchell, Ari Coleman); Flute Trio (Chelsea Wade, Lauren Crawford, Madeline Brick); Mixed Woodwind Quartet (Shian McBee, Cari Stockard, Samantha Figg, Donald Heaton) Tuba Trio (Jon Martin, Jacob Stull, Matt Garcia); Brass Sextet (Zach Colvin, Courtney Clark, Jamie Westphal, Vanessa Jones, Kila Fletchall, Jon Martin); Trombone Trio (Zach Ireland, Daniel Riekena, Mahonri Reyes).
