R-2 Earns
Distinction in Performance Award For the sixth time, the Chillicothe R-2 School District has received the state’s “Distinction in Performance” award, having met all 22 indicators on the Annual Performance Report. R-2 Superintendent Dr. Linda Gray Smith said, “It’s a great honor for the Chillicothe R-2 School District to have earned the ‘accredited with distinction’ award. It is a testament to the hard work of our teachers, our staff members, our students, our parents, our school board, and the whole community who support the educational system. Quality education is truly a group effort!” Chillicothe R-2 is one of 330 school districts across the state who earned the award, which is presented annually by the state education department. Of this year’s recipients, 278 are kindergarten through twelfth grade school districts; 52 are kindergarten through eighth grade school districts. There are 523 public school districts in Missouri. Last year, 295 school districts received the Distinction in Performance Award. “We are gratified by the steady increase in the number of districts meeting the high standards for this award,” said Stan Johnson, assistant commissioner of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. |
