Automation Controls OK'd for CHS
During R-2 Board Meeting The Chillicothe High School will receive automation controls, air balancing and web monitoring equipment that is estimated to give the district $11,000 a year in energy savings. “It's a system that allows the temperatures to be monitored from the central office,” Wallace explained this (Wednesday) morning. He added that having such a system will help district officials to quickly identify any problems with the system. “This system is what was probably cut out (of the high school plans as a cost-saving measure) originally when the high school was built,” Wallace said. Work will begin on installing the system this winter, he added. The board unanimously approved the work last (Tuesday) night during the regular January meeting held at district headquarters. The vote came shortly after the amended contract for the school's cooling tower project met with board approval. The initial cost of the automation control project is $193,961. Dale Wallace, superintendent, advised the board to lump the project with the cooling tower ($188,000) and middle school roof ($80,000 to $90,000) into one financing package that can be voted on next month during the regular February meeting. |
