The seventh- and eighth-grade bands of Chillicothe Middle School combined with the marching band of Chillicothe High School and staged an impressive halftime show at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium Friday night, October 26, 2007. Together, they performed “Big Rock,” and “Salute to Freedom,” as well as the school fight song. CHS Symphonic Band
Receives Top Rating at State Contest The Chillicothe High School Symphonic Band received their 23rd consecutive state I rating at the MSHSAA Festival on Thursday, March 29. The festival was held on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University. The band performed before a panel of four adjudicators in performance and sight reading. Eighteen events and several individual band members qualified for the state music festival with their I rating performances in solos and small ensembles. State music festival will be held on the campus of the University of Missouri -Columbia on April 27. Celebrity
Band Concert Trombone Trio Rich Coble, Steve Dekker and Paul McKee performed with the symphonic band and played later in the evening Thursday night as members of Kansas City Slide Show, the 41st annual Celebrity Band Concert's artists. Kansas City Slide Show also performed with the CHS Jazz Band. The event was held in the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center.

Band, Flag Corps Place at Missouri Days Festival The Chillicothe High School marching Hornets traveled to Trenton on Saturday and competed in the 10th annual Missouri Days Marching Band Festival. More than 30 bands participated in this year's festival. The Marching Hornets received the second place trophy in Class 4 (85.2 points), barely edged out by Oak Grove (85.4). Finishing a distant third was Smithville. There were eight bands total in Class 4. The Marching Hornets point total also represented the second most points for all class sizes. The CHS Flag Corps also competed and finished a respectable 4th place behind Smithville, Oak Grove, and Savannah. Earlier this fall, the corps received a 3rd place trophy in Class 4 at Carrollton Band Day. The band and flag corps are under the direction of Dave Goodwin and Emily Heisterkamp.
The Chillicothe High School flag corps team practiced August 16, 2006, in the gymnasium. The group will be performing during home football games alongside the CHS Marching Hornets during half-time.
