October 23, 2006

The Chillicothe High School marching Hornets traveled to Trenton on Saturday and competed in the 10th annual Missouri Days Marching Band Festival. More than 30 bands participated in this year's festival. The Marching Hornets received the second place trophy in Class 4 (85.2 points), barely edged out by Oak Grove (85.4). Finishing a distant third was Smithville. There were eight bands total in Class 4. The Marching Hornets point total also represented the second most points for all class sizes.

The CHS Flag Corps also competed and finished a respectable 4th place behind Smithville, Oak Grove, and Savannah. Earlier this fall, the corps received a 3rd place trophy in Class 4 at Carrollton Band Day. The band and flag corps are under the direction of Dave Goodwin and Emily Heisterkamp.
