November 2008

Dear Parents:

November is here! This school year is flying by so fast. It will be Christmas before we know it. I hope that everyone had a happy and safe Halloween. Thank you for everyone who made our Halloween party a success. We had a great time!

In October, our themes were fall, fire safety, pumpkins, Halloween, and the nursery rhyme - Itsy, Bitsy Spider. The skills that we worked on were shapes, colors, counting, and singing the alphabet (tune of “Mary had a Little Lamb”).

This month, we are going to use the themes – owls, Native Americans & Pilgrims, and Thanksgiving (turkeys). We will keep working on the above skills, but also add recognizing numbers through 5. Our nursery rhyme is Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater.

Salvation Army Christmas Assistance Applications are available Nov. 3-6 from 9 am – 12 pm and 1 pm – 3 pm.

Daylight Saving Time ends and we go back to Standard Time. You will need to move your clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 2nd.

NO SCHOOL on Monday, November 3rdh for a Teacher In-Service.

The book orders are due on Nov. 14th. If you would like to order books for Christmas and do not want your child to know about them, please send a note and we will call you when they come in. These books make great, inexpensive presents. The children love to get books of their own.

Our Literacy Night will be on Thursday, November 13th. Please mark your calendar for this fun-filled night.

PAT will have their November group meeting “Dinosaur Stomp!” on Friday, November 7th from 9:30 – 10:30 at CLC- United Methodist Church.

The Chillicothe Holiday Parade will be on Saturday, November 22nd at 10:00 am.

There will be NO SCHOOL on November 26 – 28 for our Thanksgiving break!

I want to thank all of my parents for taking the time to meet with me to go over your child’s progress. If you have any questions about your child’s progress, please feel free to contact me anytime.

Our class collects Box Tops for Education and Hy-Vee receipts for the Cash for Kids program. If you have a receipt from Hy-Vee that is $25.00 or more (excluding Hy-Vee Gas and Pharmacy), please send it to us. Please ask family and friends to save their Hy-Vee receipts also. Both of these programs give money back to our school to help buy materials and equipment.

Sincerely,

Miss Kim

This Month's Newsletter from Mrs. Rebecca Lewis...

November 3, 2008

Dear Parents,

Thank you for attending parent/teacher conferences!!!! I appreciate the effort it takes to arrange a schedule to attend the conference.

The children have been fascinated with the change of the season. They are noticing the colors of the leaves and enjoying their time outside. We have been discussing changes that happen during the different seasons. Please help your child enjoy each season as it changes.

One of the skills we will be working on this month is sorting. We will sort by size, color, and shape (small/medium/large, long/short). Please continue to encourage your child to use his/her manners at home. We are getting much better at saying our first and last name and age. We also continue to work on how to hold a pencil, crayon, and scissors, and trying to have good control.

I want to thank those parents who helped make our parties so much fun!! We appreciate all you do for our class.

Help your child be thankful this time of year. Talk about what you DO have, including health, plenty of food, etc. Enjoy this time of year—spend TIME with your child.

PARENTS PLEASE SEND A BACKPACK EVERYDAY!!!!
